EPDM rubber gaskets

EPDM rubber gaskets are one of the most widely used industrial gaskets. EPDM is a synthetic rubber with excellent resistance to weather, water and heat. It is produced by extrusion or moulding into different shapes (U-profiles, bubbles, tapes, tubes…).

What are EPDM rubber seals?

Description

EPDM rubber gaskets/seals are renowned for their versatility and range of applications. They are designed to fill gaps in installations, absorb shock and protect against damage. EPDM rubber gaskets/seals are available in a variety of shapes and sizes to suit different needs and applications. They can be manufactured in custom sizes and shapes to meet specific requirements. This makes them ideal for use in a wide range of industries including the electrical industry, building and construction, automotive, construction, aluminium profile manufacturing, glass manufacturing and many more.

Properties

One of the key characteristics of EPDM rubber seals is their ability to withstand extreme temperatures. They can operate at temperatures ranging from -50°C to 100°C (maximum 150°C), making them ideal for use in harsh environments. EPDM rubber gaskets and seals are also resistant to many chemicals, making them an excellent choice for applications where they will be exposed to salt water, solvents and acids. Another important feature of EPDM rubber gaskets and seals is their excellent water resistance. They are highly water resistant and can be used in applications where they will be exposed to water or moisture. They also feature excellent electrical insulating properties, making them ideal for use in electrical applications. Rubber and EPDM gaskets are designed to provide a reliable and durable seal for a variety of applications. Key features of EPDM rubber include: Excellent weather and UV resistance: EPDM rubber is highly resistant to ozone, sunlight and weathering, making it ideal for outdoor applications that require long-lasting durability. High chemical resistance: EPDM rubber is resistant to many chemicals including acids, bases and ketones, making it an excellent choice for use in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Good thermal insulation:EPDM has good insulation properties, which means it can help reduce heat transfer and energy loss in a variety of applications. Low compressive strength: EPDM rubber has low compressibility, which means it can maintain its shape and tightness even after long-term compression. Good electrical insulation: EPDM rubber has good electrical insulation properties, making it an excellent choice for use in the electrical and electronics industries. Versatility: one of the main advantages of EPDM rubber gaskets and seals is their versatility. EPDM rubber can be made into a wide range of shapes and sizes and is available in a variety of colours and standards. This means that EPDM rubber gaskets and seals can be tailored to the specific needs of each application. In addition, EPDM rubber can be combined with other materials, such as metal or plastic, to create hybrid seals that offer even greater durability and reliability. Rubber and EPDM gaskets are also easy to maintain and clean. They require no special cleaning or maintenance and can be easily cleaned with soap and water.

Versions

They are manufactured in several basic shapes, either as square, rectangle, circular gasket, intermediate or special shapes. The seals can also be produced as self-adhesive.

Material basis

These seals can be made from several types of homogeneous compounds and hardnesses - depending on the conditions of use. The specific gravity is around 1.2 - 1.5 g/cm3 and in hardness ranges from 40 to 90 °ShA. In addition to standard materials for various demanding applications, we can also produce peroxide mixtures (sulphur-free), flame retardant profiles in accordance with (NF F 16-101, ISO 45545), products in accordance with TL1010 and FMVSS 302, waterproofing materials in accordance with EN681, seals for flood walls, automotive seals in accordance with VW 2.8.1
